Walla Walla Municipal Court Records

Walla Walla Municipal Court handles traffic violations and municipal code violations that occur within Walla Walla city limits. It is a court of limited jurisdiction. This court handles misdemeanor criminal cases, civil cases up to $100,000, traffic infractions, and preliminary hearings for felonies. Court records can be searched online through the Washington Courts statewide case search portal. Some records require in-person or written requests to the Clerk's Office. Copy fees are $5.00 per page for uncertified copies and $6.00 for the first page of certified copies plus $1.00 for each additional page.

The court handles felony criminal cases, civil cases exceeding $100,000, domestic relations matters including divorce and custody, probate, and appeals from lower courts. The Clerk's Office maintains an index of all cases and provides file access during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, excluding court holidays.

New ex parte records hours are Monday through Friday, 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Clerk's Office does not accept fax filings or e-filings at this time. All new case filings must include a cover sheet.

Services from the Clerk's Office include public records, criminal records, civil records, domestic records, probate records, juvenile offender records, and passport services. Passport appointments are available Monday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon and Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Online restitution payments for adults and juveniles are also available through the Superior Court. Protective orders, sealed documents, adoption records, and certain mental health proceedings are exempt from public disclosure. Access to these restricted files is limited and governed by Washington State court rules.

The county uses a NextRequest portal for submitting public records requests online. Users can submit requests for case documents, dockets, and court records through the portal or by email or phone. The county responds to public records requests in line with RCW 42.56. Large or complex requests may take more time to fulfill. Fee schedules for copies and certifications are available upon request from the county public records officer.

The Washington State Digital Archives holds over 1.4 million Walla Walla County Superior Court case files covering 1926 through 2026. The collection at digitalarchives.wa.gov includes civil, criminal, divorce, and probate case types. Each case file contains documents filed by both parties and the presiding judge, including awards, complaints, decrees, depositions, orders, pleadings, sentences, and verdicts. Cases are ordered numerically by initiation date. Copies of full case files can be ordered online through the digital archives site.

Access is governed by Washington State Court Rule General Rule 31. Public access to proceedings involving adoptions, dependency, and mental competency is restricted and not available online. Sealed or confidential documents are not displayed and cannot be purchased online. Case documents are not previewable before ordering, so contact the county clerk before placing an order to confirm the file contains what you need.
